Dr. Jerry Chan is a Nevada County native, born and raised in Grass Valley. Graduating from Nevada Union High School, he lettered in football, track and tennis. Dr. Chan held the record for the 100-yard dash for a number of years! He was also involved in Student Government and the American Field Service (AFS), an international exchange student program. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of California, Davis. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry.
Dr. Chan spent his summers fighting fires with the California Department of Forestry, now known as CalFire. After graduating from Optometry School, Dr. Chan served in the U.S. Navy at the Regional Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA.
When Dr. Chan is not in the office, he is a sports enthusiast (Go Bears!), he also enjoys fishing, birdwatching, volunteering at Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release (caring for sick and injured birds), cooking and spending time with his family.
